Daniel Ricciardo is one of the most recognizable faces in Formula 1 with his always cheerful attitude and bright smile but that is not the case for the past few years as Ricciardo has lost his touch and has had a couple of very disappointing seasons in multiple teams. It is now being reported that Ricciardo might be promoted back to the Red Bull seat he left a few years ago once the Mexican Grand Prix is done and dusted with as Red Bull are not happy with Sergio Perez.

Red Bull May Sack Perez

According to Formula 1 photographer Kym Illman, Daniel Ricciardo might be promoted to the Red Bull seat as the team begins preparations to sack Sergio Perez. Sergio Perez has been having a dreadful season and has performed way below expectations. He is currently more than 150 points behind his teammate Max Verstappen and it is not looking good for the Mexican driver.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner has defended Perez but might be force to replace him with someone like Daniel Ricciardo as the race for the Constructors Championship is starting to heat up. Consistent good performances by McLaren have put them just 30-points behind Red Bull and if things keep going the way they are going, Sergio Perez might face the axe.

Daniel Ricciardo To Get Promoted?

With the rumors of Sergio Perez probably losing his seat at Red Bull the talk of Daniel Ricciardo replacing him are ripe.

“I'm just telling you what I hear from others because I'm not privy to this - there's a chance after Mexico they say: ‘Right, Sergio's not doing well'.

"Perhaps they’ll take Sergio out because he has fulfilled his excitement with the Mexican fans. Put Daniel in, Liam might get the early drive there [at RB],” said Kym Illman while speaking to GPFans.

It will be intrsting to see how things proceed for both drivers as F1 currently heads to Monza.
