F1: FIA Takes Massive Decision Against Monaco Grand Prix! Race To Now Feature Two Pit-Stops Following Dull Racing In The Past

The FIA has taken some massive steps regarding the Monaco Grand Prix following dull racing over the past few seasons.

The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the oldest races on the Formula One calendar and maybe misses out only to the Silverstone Circuit in terms of heritage. Monaco is considered as one of the trickiest circuits and it requires drivers to show precise skill to be able to maneuver it properly. It also houses some iconic track features that cannot be found elsewhere. This includes features such as the hairpin turn and the tunnel. The track also has the ocean on one side of it. It has also seen some of the most iconic Formula One moments such as Charles Leclerc finally getting a win at home or Ayrton Senna giving one of the greatest performances in the rain. 

Monaco Grand Prix And The Problems With Bigger Cars

The Monaco Grand Prix has fallen upon tough times in recent years. This is due to the growing size if the modern Formula One cars. With larger cars, it becomes almost impossible to overtake on the tight corners and thin straights' of Monaco. This has led to some very dull races over the past few seasons.

Due to the fallen standards of racing there have been calls by fans to have the race removed from the Formula One calendar. The race in recent times has mostly been decided by the qualifying that takes place on Saturday.

FIA Takes Massive Decision Regarding Monaco Grand Prix

Following this, the FIA have decided that the Monaco Grand Prix will be a two stop race from now on so that more changes in grid position can happen and the race does not end up getting decided by the qualifying positions of the drivers rather than the main race itself.

This is an attempt to include some incidents into the race itself by the governing body of Formula One. The FIA also confirmed this as they stated this move is, "with the primary intent of improving the sporting spectacle of this race given the notable difficulty in overtaking at this circuit.”
