'Making Sure Your Tires Survive': Oscar Piastri Looking To Convert First Ever Pole Into A Win At The Chinese Grand Prix

Oscar Piastri grabbed pole position for the Chinese Grand Prix, making it his first ever Formula 1 pole position.

Oscar Piastri created history during the qualifying session ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai as he broke the track lap record and got himself his first ever Formula One pole position in style. Oscar Piastri will be starting ahead of Mercedes driver George Russell and his fellow McLaren driver Lando Norris who will be starting in third. Shanghai has a track that faces massive degradation and it will be key for all of the drivers to maintain their tires if they want to salvage a win out of the race. 

Following these lines, Oscar Piastri provided insights into his strategy going into the Chinese Grand Prix. 

Oscar Piastri Looking To Convert Pole Into Win In China 

Oscar Piastri as he looks to add a race win by converting his first ever pole position spoke to media personnel ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix. He revealed that making sure the tires survive during the race will be the biggest thing. He also stated that Shanghai had the most graining that had been seen in F1 in a long time.

“I think just making sure your tires survive is the biggest thing. I think it’s going to be a pretty interesting race. It’s the most (tire) degradation (wear) that we’ve probably seen and the most graining we’ve seen in a long time,” said Oscar Piastri ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix. 

‘Got A Long Night Ahead Of Me’: Lando Norris 

Oscar Piastri's teammate Lando Norris has been termed as the favorite to win the Championship in 2025 after missing out on it by fine margins. Norris however will be starting third on the grid for the Chinese Grand Prix as he missed the pole position out to Oscar Piastri and second place to George Russell.

Norris following the qualifying stated that he had a long night ahead of himself as he will be looking at the data to see where he can improve. 

“(I’ve now) got a long night ahead of me to sit down and go to through all the data and see where I can improve for tomorrow,” said Lando Norris after he qualified third for the Chinese Grand Prix.
