The much-advertised Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler UFC 303 fight has seemingly gone AWOL. First, it was the much-hyped press conference that was scheduled to take place in Ireland, that got cancelled due to unknown reasons, then the official broadcaster ESPN stopped promoting the event on its platform. Meanwhile, the CEO of the promotion, Dana White, has stayed silent on the matter. There is no word from Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler either on the matter. All this has given birth to a striking speculation, Is the Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler UFC 303 fight cancelled?

Concerns loom over UFC 303 Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler fight

Following the culmination of the UFC 302 event, all eyes are on UFC 303, which is still intact with its scheduling, and is dated for June 29, 2024. However, a cancelled press conference and stoppage of the event promotions amplify concerns. Michael Chandler, who was quite amped-up for the fight has drastically shifted to posting stories about self-help on social media. McGregor, on the other hand, hasn't broken his silence after apologising to his fans for the cancelled presser, that was planned for June 3, 2024 in Dublin. One more alarming signal is that, UFC have privated the Conor McGregor free fight videos, which were posted on YouTube a few days ago. Furthermore, Chandler has quit his training and returned home.

While the flow of assertions is large and getting thicker, many of the fans and knowers of the sport are speculating, McGregor has incurred an injury. McGregor endured an ugly leg injury at UFC 257, and he has since taken three years to finally recuperate. There are reports that McGregor has picked up a minor injury just days before the event and the promotion is waiting for the final course of action. In the past, McGregor has fought some of his biggest fights while being injured, thus, it is not clear whether the apparent injury is the reason behind the potential debacle of the UFC 303 event. There are also assumptions that all this is just a ploy to create further reverberations about the impending fight. Nothing is concrete at this point, and an official announcement is awaited to debunk the conjectures. Until then, UFC 303 Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler is not cancelled.
