In the post fight interview, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic announced his retirement following a TKO loss to Jon Jones. Stipe Miocic is one of the most iconic and is also one of the most decorated fighters in the UFC and the MMA world. Stipe was 42 years old going into this fight against Jon Jones and was dominated in every manner leading to his third round knock out leading to him announcing his retirement from the sport of which he is a legend of.
Miocic (20-5) failed in his bid to win the heavyweight crown for a third time and immediately announced his retirement.
“I’m done,” Miocic said. “I’m hanging ‘em up.”
His last fight was in front of the next president.
Stipe Miocic had an impressive record of 20 wins and only 5 losses. One of his most significant career achievements is he defeated Daniel Cormier twice in their three fights. Stipe Miocic retired as one of the most decorated champion in the history of the UFC.
Despite his loss to Jon Jones at UFC 309, Stipe Miocic remains as one of the if not the greatest heavyweight fighter in UFC history.
Following Stipe Miocic's retirement, UFC president Dana White showered praise on the former UFC Champion.
"He's one of the greatest heavyweights ever. You can't deny Stipe. Stipe is [No. 1 or No. 2] all time," stated UFC president Dana White following Stipe's retirement.
