Islam Makhachev was tested by Dustin Poirier at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey during the main event of UFC 302 and continued his dominance over the Light Weight division as he retained his belt.

UFC 302 Highlights of the Night 

- Islam Mahachev proved why he is reigning lightweight champion when he survived massive adversity and won by submitting Dustin Poirier in the 5th round.
- Sean Strickland emerged victorious over Paulo Costa via a split decision when he was the aggressor and emerged victorious in the comain event. Costa would be left fuming but given the balance of the fight Strickland only just knicked it.
- Kevin Holland entertained everyone when he launched a barrage on Michal. Holland didn't pull any punches and landed massive elbows in the beginning and backed up his bright start with a submission win. 
- "The Hybrid" Niko Price overcame his two fight losing streak when he downed Alex Morono via unanimous decision. Morono started strong but price weathered the early storm and emerged victorious in the fight. 
- Randy Brown emerged victorious over Elizeu Zeleski in a welterweight fight that went right down to the wire. Brown had the measure in the first and second round but perhaps what sealed it was after being dominated in round 2, Randy reversed late and landed a massive elbow.
