Microsoft has suffered a global outage and due to that, several services in the world are affected. The sphere of sports also got a hit as the IT systems which will be responsible for running the Paris Olympics smoothly have also been affected. The organizing committee for the Paris Olympics says its IT operations have also been impacted.
With less than a week left before the start of the Paris Olympics 2024, the games and the organizing committee have to endure a major challenge. The server of one of the most widely spread software in the world, Microsoft, has been affected. However, since it is an event of large scale the organizers have contingency plans in store to help restore normalcy.
Microsoft Windows users from around the world are facing a "Blue Screen of Death" (BSOD) error, leading the systems to abrupt shutdowns or restarts. Various industries including stock markets, aviation, media outlets and banking are facing massive disruption due to the mass outage.
Social media users globally have reported long queues at Australian stores such as Woolworths due to payment system failures, as well as difficulties accessing financial institutions like the National Australia Bank. Other users in Australia have reported being locked out of their workstations, with banking apps and supermarket systems also taking the hit.
