Paris Olympics 2024: The 33rd Summer Games has marked its return to the French Capital after a gap of 100 odd years. The last time the Olympic Games were hosted by Paris was in 1924. After London, Paris is the only city to host the Olympics three times, 1900, 1924 and 2024. When the games were hosted by Paris, which dates back 100 years, 17 sports, 126 events and 23 disciplines were held with 3000 athletes participating.

IOC Refugee Team In Contention For Olympic Glory

10,500 athletes representing 206 countries will compete in 329 events across 32 sports in the 33rd Summer Games hosted by Paris. The Olympics will also witness 117 Indian athletes in action. Additionally there is an IOC refugee team that will be competing  to register their names in the glorious chapters of the Olympics.

The Impact Of The IOC Refugee Team

The IOC refugee Team's sole purpose is to represent more than 100 million forcibly displaced people worldwide. A total of 37 athletes, hosted by 15 National Olympic Committees will compete across 12 sports. The IOC team demonstrates to the world that refugees are an enrichment to the society. 'The IOC Refugee Olympic Team sends a great signal about what an enrichment refugees are for our Olympic community and for society at large. Watching them compete is a great moment for all of us, and we hope everyone will join. The athletes are welcome in our Olympic community, among their fellow athletes – competing with them, but also living with them together under one roof.', said IOC President, Thomas Bach
