The Indian contingent is gearing up with zeal as they reach the Olympic Village in Pari, France, for the 2024 Summer Olympics. This year, the country's hopes are exceptionally high as a record number of athletes will represent India this time. The previous edition's medalists will look to enhance their chances and aim for the ultimate prize, the gold medal, as they compete in Paris. One of the country's biggest hopes for a medal, weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, has begun her preparations for the Summer Olympics in France.

Sports Minister of India, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, shared a video clip of Indian weightlifter and Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Sports Minister's video shared Chanu preparing with his trainer as she performs some workouts at the La Ferté-Milon commune in France. The star weightlifter will be one of India's best hopes this year in the Summer Games.

Mirabai Chanu has been an absolute phenomenon in the Indian weightlifting scene, and her talent knows no bounds. Her lifting abilities and athletic prowess allowed her to secure a silver medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Chanu will be a superstar for India in Paris alongside Neeraj Chopra, who will be defending his gold medal in the men's javelin category.
The multi-sport competition gets underway on July 26, 2024, and the 117 athletes from India will compete in 20 different sports and aim for a higher placing than the last time. India set a new record in the multi-sport event by winning seven medals at the Tokyo edition, including one gold, two silver, and four bronze. The Paris Summer Olympics 2024 are scheduled to start on July 26 and finish on August 11.
