Amazon Prime Video is expanding its sports content with the introduction of FanCode, a premier sports destination, in collaboration with Dream Sport-owned FanCode. This marks the first dedicated sports streaming service on Prime Video Channels, providing access to a diverse range of sports globally and domestically. FanCode on Prime Video Channels will offer live streaming of over 15 sports, including cricket, football, rugby, kabaddi, basketball, and horse racing, with exclusive rights to events like the Carabao Cup, Women's Big Bash League, FIFA U17 World Cup, and AFC Champions League.
Prime members can seamlessly access FanCode, enjoying live sports, consolidated watchlists, personalised recommendations, IMDb's X-Ray feature, and a single download library for offline viewing. The annual subscription for Prime members is available at a special introductory price of Rs 249. The move comes as Amazon Prime Video aims to enhance its sports offerings and compete in the growing OTT market, leveraging the pandemic-driven slowdown in subscriber growth.
This strategic alliance with FanCode signifies a significant step in Amazon's global expansion strategy, tapping into Emil Frey's extensive distribution network and market insights. The move to incorporate sports content on Prime Video follows Amazon's live streaming of the India vs New Zealand cricket match and indicates the platform's interest in diversifying its entertainment offerings.

The partnership between Amazon and FanCode emerged after a high-stakes battle over media rights for the Indian Premier League between Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio and Disney Star. Although Disney Star secured the rights, the BCCI had sought participation from global giants, including Amazon. FanCode on Prime Video Channels expands Amazon's sports programming, bringing more than 15 sports to Indian audiences and aligning with the platform's global expansion goals. The collaboration is expected to strengthen both entities, catering to the diverse preferences of sports enthusiasts in India and beyond.
