Apple may hold next event in October for iPads, Macs

Apple is set to kick off its fall “It’s Glowtime” event on September 9 where it will likely launch the iPhone 16 series, Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and AirPods 4. Earlier reports also suggested that new iPad models may also be in the offing, while the next-generation Macs may debut sometime later this year. Bloomberg has now reported that Apple will hold an event in October where the new Mac models, alongside new iPads, will debut.

In his newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said the September 9 event will not be Apple 's final event of this year. An event in October, the date of which is not confirmed yet, will take place for Apple ’s refreshed lineups of iPad and Mac devices. The company could launch a new iPad Mini for the first time since 2021, a new Mac Mini with an M4 chip, and M4-powered MacBook Pro and iMac models in October.

October events are not uncommon

October events are not new, however. Apple has held special events in October – nearly a month after the launch of new iPhone devices – in the past for Mac and iPad devices. Although, it is not a mandatory event like the iPhone event and Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

More devices expected

As Gurman has pointed out, Apple ’s focus will be on new iPad and Mac devices, but there are chances that some other products may get their new models at the October event. The company could introduce a new version of AirPods Max or a refreshed HomePod mini, both of which have become reasonably old in Apple ’s portfolio of consumer-facing products.

The upcoming Apple event on September 9 will kick off at 10.30 PM IST and will also see the commercial launch of the company’s artificial intelligence tools dubbed Apple Intelligence.
