Faster payments for devotees: Ahead of the Ram Temple inauguration in Ayodhya, UPI payments platform Paytm has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ayodhya Nagar Nigam.
As over 10 crore individuals are invited in the Ram Temple inauguration with millions of devotees flocking the birth city of Lord Ram, the partnership is aimed at providing seamless mobile payment services in the city using different modes such as QR code, soundbox and card swiping machines, the listed fintech said in a statement.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Ayodhya Nagar Nigam mayor Girish Pati Tripathi. He said, “As Ayodhya prepares to welcome millions of devotees for the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, we are pleased to partner with Paytm to ensure a smooth and efficient digital payment experience (and) enhancing the overall convenience and digital
infrastructure in Ayodhya.”
As part of the pact
Mobile payments at various departments under the State Nagar Nigam will be enabled, including the deployment of Paytm card machines at cash collection centres.

Abhay Sharma, Chief Business Officer for Payments at Paytm said the collaboration will ensure convenient and secure digital/mobile payment solutions for the millions of devotees visiting the sacred city.
Paytm’s partnership with city’s Nagar Nigam reflects our commitment to supporting the local community and working in tandem with government Initiatives, he added.

As of September 2023, Paytm has over 92 lakh devices such as the bluetooth enabled payments announcement device Soundbox, and card machines for digital as well as card payments.
