X TV app: Elon Musk has announced X TV app for smart TVs. Musk had first teased the possibility of introducing a dedicated app for smart TVs back in March this year. Now, almost six months later, X (formerly Twitter) has finally launched the X TV app for users across the globe.

Announcing the X TV app, the SpaceX founder and CEO said that the X TV app is out in beta mode. "Beta version of 𝕏 TV is out," he wrote in a post on X. This means that the app is available on select platforms at the moment.

X TV app availability

As far as availability is concerned, the X TV app is available on Android TVs. Users can download the app from the Google Play Store. In addition to this, the app is also available on smart TVs by LG, Google TV and Amazon's Fire TV. The app is not available on other platforms including Apple TV and Samsung smart TVs yet. However, the company will be expanding the availability of its X TV app to more platforms in the coming days.

X TV app top features

The newly launched X TV app aims to give users access to videos available on X on their smart TVs. "Paired with our upcoming Video Tab, this marks a massive leap forward in transforming X into a video-first platform and unlocking new opportunities for creators, advertisers, and our partners," X wrote in a post on its official engineering blog.

According to the description of the X TV app available on Google Play Store, the app will let subscribers watch videos across genres including news, sports, and movies on its platforms. Subscribers will also be able to watch music videos and get weather updates using the X TV app on their smart TVs.

Coming to the features, at the moment, the app is offering three features to the users. The app lets users store up to 72 hours of shows in the cloud to watch at a later time. It has a Startover TV feature, which users will be able to watch a video from the beginning. Additionally, users will be able to store up to 100 hours of DVR recordings for free.
