Spotify has rolled out new parental controls for accounts of kids under 13 years of age. The company has introduced a new 'Managed Account' section within Spotify's parental control settings. This new section brings a host of new controls to the app that lets parents control the content that their kids can access in the Spotify app.

According to the details shared by the company, the new managed accounts section will allow parents to customise the content that their kids can access within the Spotify app. Parents also get access to controls that let them manage the playback of Canvas, videos, and the content labeled as explicit. Additionally, it lets parents control if their kids can play songs and podcasts from specific artists. These controls build on top of the Spotify Kids app, and they are ideal for parents whose kids access the music-streaming app on their smartphones.

"The managed account is also welcome news for parents and guardians who do not want their recommendations getting mixed up with the latest tween tunes—each account under the plan will have separate recommendations, and a young listener’s musical favorites won’t feed into the plan manager’s annual Wrapped results," Spotify wrote in a post detailing this feature.

Spotify Managed Accounts feature: Who can access?

Spotify said that it is rolling out the Managed Account feature to the company's Premium Family plan subscribers as a pilot. At the time of initial roll out, Spotify's Managed Accounts feature will be available to subscribers in Denmark, New Zealand, and Sweden only.
