YouTube Shorts are getting 3 minutes long

YouTube has announced that creators can now create up to three-minute-long Shorts. The company has also shared new features coming to Shorts in coming days.

YouTube Shorts update: YouTube has announced a new of changes that it is making to Shorts. The company today announced that soon creators will be able to create Shorts that are up to three minutes long. Until now, YouTube Shorts could be up to 60 seconds in length. But starting October 15, creators will be able to share up to three-minute-long Shorts on the platform.

"This change applies to videos that are square or taller in aspect ratio and won't affect any videos you uploaded before October 15. And we’ll be working to improve recommendations for longer Shorts in the coming months," YouTube wrote in a blog post announcing the news.

In addition to this, YouTube has also announced new tools for the creators. First off is a tool called Remix. This tool enables users to use popular Shorts as a template for creating their own videos. YouTube also said that in the coming months, Shorts will get an update that will make it easier for users to remix clips from various videos on the platform.

The company also announced that it will soon be bringing Google's Veo to YouTube Shorts. For the unversed, Veo is Google's image generation model that can generate videos with a resolution of up to 1080p in a wide variety of Cinematic and Visual Styles. It was introduced back in May this year. However, at the time, it was available to select creators in private preview in VideoFX. Now, the company is making it available to YouTube Shorts creators.

Besides this, YouTube is also giving Shorts more space on the homepage in the YouTube mobile app. The company said that viewers will be able to access trending Shorts from the new Shorts Trends page in the YouTube mobile app.

Lastly, the company today announced that soon creators will be able to get a preview of the comments that viewers are making on a Short in the Shorts feed.
