Intel’s AI venture: Intel is diving deeper into the enterprise software market by spinning off a new platform company named Articul8 AI, backed by Boca Raton, Florida-based asset manager DigitalBridge. This initiative builds upon a successful proof-of-concept developed through Intel's collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) last May, as reported by Reuters.

Articul8 AI has evolved from a generative AI system created by Intel, which combines its hardware with a blend of open-source and proprietary software solutions. Originally developed over approximately two years within Intel, the system was customised to meet BCG's stringent security requirements more recently.

Initially, BCG exclusively used the system. However, Intel has since expanded its reach, targeting industries such as financial services, aerospace, semiconductors, and telecommunications. The platform, optimised for Intel hardware but compatible with alternatives, offers high security and specialised domain knowledge, according to an Intel spokesperson.

Arun Subramaniyan to become Articul8 CEO

The Articul8 platform prioritises rapid deployment, scalability, security, and cost-efficiency, providing flexibility in deployment options, including cloud, on-premises, or hybrid models. Arun Subramaniyan, formerly a VP and GM at Intel's data centre and AI group, will assume the CEO role at Articul8. The team comprises ex-Intel professionals, and Intel will maintain an undisclosed stake in the new entity.

Apart from Intel and DigitalBridge, investors in Articul8 include Fin Capital, Mindset Ventures, Communitas Capital, GiantLeap Capital, GS Futures, and Zain Group. This alliance between Intel and Articul8 aims to boost Intel's generative AI market presence while complementing CEO Pat Gelsinger's broader strategy to revitalise Intel through innovations in chip manufacturing and software offerings.
