Larsen and Toubro Technology Services (LTTS), an engineering services company, announced a partnership with American software firm NVIDIA to advance medical imaging using Gen AI. This collaboration is geared towards the development of software-defined architectures for medical devices, focusing on elevating the quality of medical images.

The key objective of this partnership is to create software-defined architectures, serving as decision-making tools for image processing. These architectures will incorporate AI/ML models designed for the detection, identification, and classification of polyps—abnormal growths often identified during colonoscopies.

Amit Chadha, CEO and Managing Director of LTTS, emphasised that this collaboration enables them to explore new possibilities in medical imaging. He highlighted the combination of the NVIDIA Holoscan software platform for edge AI inference and the NVIDIA IGX Orin hardware platform, stating that it expedites the development of AI-powered medical imaging solutions.

These solutions are expected to enhance image quality and provide real-time support for clinical decision-making, thereby increasing the efficiency of clinicians and improving patient outcomes.

The overarching goal of this joint effort is to address industry-wide challenges related to the availability, cost, and dependencies associated with custom and proprietary hardware components. The proposed solution aims to streamline and optimise medical imaging processes while overcoming existing hurdles in the field.
