Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, announced on Saturday that it is redistributing members of its Responsible AI team across various company groups. The move aims to integrate these experts more closely into the development of core products and technologies, focusing on preventing harms associated with artificial intelligence (AI).

According to a company spokesperson, the majority of the Responsible AI team members will transition to generative AI, continuing their work on responsible AI development and contributing to cross-Meta initiatives. Additionally, some team members will be assigned to AI infrastructure.

The decision is part of Meta's strategy to enhance its focus on safe and responsible AI development.

The Information was first reported on this shift. In October, Meta began introducing generative AI tools capable of creating content such as image backgrounds and variations of written text for advertisers. Meta's AI product portfolio includes the language model "Llama 2" and the AI chatbot Meta AI, capable of generating text responses and photo-realistic images.
