Microsoft Copilot update: Microsoft has rolled out a major update to its generative AI-based chatbot, Copilot. As a part of the update, Microsoft is rolling out two major capabilities to Copilot -- Voice and Vision. Microsoft says that these features 'change how we connect with technology, enabling people to seamlessly reflect with, learn from and work with their Copilot companions'.
Copilot Voice
Up until now, users could interact with Copilot using text-based commands. However, with this update, users will also be able to connect with Copilot using voice-based commands. This is quite similar to how users interact with Apple 's Siri or Amazon 's Alexa. Microsoft says that users can pick from a total of four voice options.
As far as availability is concerned, Microsoft says that Copilot's Voice feature is available in English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. The company will expand the availability of this feature to more regions and languages in the future.
Copilot Voice
Another important feature coming to Copilot is Vision. This feature enables Microsoft's gen-AI chatbot to understand the webpage that a use is viewing and answer questions about its content, both text and video.
Microsoft says that Copilot is Vision are opt-in and that the company doesn't use its data for training its AI. "... the moment you end your session, data is permanently discarded," Microsoft wrote in a blog post.
As far as availability is concerned, Microsoft will be rolling out Copilot Vision to Copilot Labs soon. It will be available to a limited number of Copilot Pro subscribers in the United States initially.
Think Deeper
Lastly, Microsoft is also rolling out reasoning capabilities to Copilot. With this update, Copilot can reason more complex questions. Microsoft says, "Think Deeper takes more time before responding, allowing Copilot to deliver detailed and step-by-step answers to challenging questions."
Think Deep is still in the developmental phase, which is why it will be available to select Copilot Pro users as a part of Copilot Labs in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
