Apple’s next iPhone may support Apple Intelligence, cost less than iPhone 16
While the redesign may position the next iPhone SE as an appealing device, the availability of Apple Intelligence features could boost sales significantly.
Apple released the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro last Friday in India and other major markets. That means it is likely preparing for next year’s iPhone 17 series. While that may be true based on multiple reports about a new iPhone 17 Air in the lineup, another iPhone model might arrive within a few months. Rumours are rife that Apple ’s fourth-generation iPhone SE could come out next spring and support Apple Intelligence while costing less than the iPhone 16.
The iPhone SE 4 may bring the biggest redesign to the series, featuring an iPhone 14-style notch on the display. It will be a major departure from the iPhone 8 design, which was used on the iPhone SE 2, launched in 2020. The redesign would mean a larger display than the iPhone SE 2’s 4.8-inch screen, flat edges, and the death of the Home Button for good. According to reports, the iPhone SE 4 may pack a 6.1-inch display – the standard size for the non-Pro iPhone models, and use an OLED panel. The Action Button may also be available on the iPhone SE 4 as Apple will likely keep the design uniform across the new models. And, Face ID will likely replace Touch ID, but the camera system would stick to one sensor, much like previous models.
While the redesign may position the next iPhone SE as an appealing device for price-sensitive customers, the availability of Apple Intelligence features on the device could boost sales significantly. Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said the next iPhone SE could support Apple Intelligence as the Tim Cook-led company wants to make its AI capabilities available to a wider customer base. Apple Intelligence features do not come out of the box on the iPhone 16 but may be rolled out later this year. By the time the iPhone SE 4 is ready for its commercial launch, Apple may be better positioned to offer its AI tools right on the shipping date. The iPhone SE 4’s low price may drive the adoption of Apple Intelligence as Apple currently faces competition from Samsung and Google.
