Xiaomi is set to launch the 5G variant of the Mi Mix 3 on February 24 ahead of MWC 2019. Rumour has it that the Mi Mix 3 5G will be accompanied by the Mi 9, Xiaomi’s true-blue 2019 flagship. Although the Mi 9 has been subject to numerous leaks, none have come close to painting the full picture. Or even half of it. A new leak changes that, showing what is being speculated to be, the first live render of the phone in question in the hands of a Xiaomi product manager. The render has since been taken down, but someone somewhere managed to take a screenshot. Much to Xiaomi’s dismay.

The live render shows off the alleged Xiaomi Mi 9 from the back, seemingly confirming a couple of rumoured features. It is evident that the phone seen in the render has a triple rear camera setup with an LED flash resting below the vertically positioned module. The Mi 9 is said to come with three rear cameras, a 48MP main camera with Sony IMX586 sensor (the same sensor found inside the Honor View 20), a 12MP secondary sensor and another Time-of-Flight camera for 3D depth mapping.

On the front, the Mi 9 will reportedly pack a 24MP selfie camera embedded into a tear-drop style notch. Sadly, the leaked render does not confirm any of that. What it does seemingly confirm though is that the Xiaomi Mi 9 will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The last-generation Mi 8 had multiple variants with in-display fingerprint scanners but Xiaomi has confirmed that its next-generation in-display fingerprint scanner will be faster and more efficient. The Mi 9 could make do with the new tech, something that has been part of rumour mills as well.

Basis of the render, the alleged Mi 9 will come with a glossy back panel like the Mi 8 and will be available in blue. The phone seen in the render does not come with a gradient finish like the Redmi Note 7 so it is yet to be seen if Xiaomi will be looking to go down that route with more variants.

The Xiaomi Mi 9, in all probability, will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. It is yet to be seen if the Mi 9 supports 5G as well.
