This is how dark mode in iOS 13 could look like

The next version of iOS, aka iOS 13, is scheduled to be announced at Apple’s annual WWDC keynote on June 3. Although a stable rollout will take time, Apple usually rolls out a developer preview almost immediately after its WWDC keynote – after revealing everything new and exciting coming to its devices with regards to software. Something similar is expected this year as well. Rumor mills have for long hinted that Apple has been working on bringing a dedicated night mode to iOS – and a new report now gives us a first look at what dark mode in iOS 13 could look like, days ahead of a possible announcement. 

9to5Mac has managed to obtain screenshots of iOS 13 showing the dark mode in action, as well as a few other tricks that Apple is likely to announce on June 3. The system wide dark mode will of course be one of the headlining features of iOS 13, if rumor mills are anything to go by – even more so because it has been the collective need of the hour. So, it seems. Even Google is working on a dedicated dark mode for Android Q, its next major software release – it is already out in beta as we speak. 

Being a system wide dark mode means users will be able to experience it across the length and breadth of the UI – right from the dock to individual apps like Music. The feature will no doubt be more useful (and catchier) in Apple’s OLED toting iPhones where it will also help reduce battery strain, extending battery life in the process. The effect will be less pronounced on LCD toting iPhones like the iPhone XR though.  

Screenshots shared in the report also show off two new purported aspects of iOS 13 – redesigned reminders and inclusion of an all-new ‘Find My’ app that is said to combine Apple’s existing Find my Friends and Find my iPhone apps into a single entity. 

Of course, these are only few of the things that Apple may be looking to announce in iOS 13 – in addition to newer versions of software that drives its other devices such as WatchOS and tvOS to name a few.
