Xiaomi literally took the smart TV market by storm when it launched the Mi TV 4 in India last year. A smart 4K HDR-ready TV for Rs 39,999 was hard to imagine back in the day after all. On Tuesday, Xiaomi took things to all new level, launching its biggest smart TV in India - the 65-inch Mi TV 4X. In typical Xiaomi fashion, the 65-inch Mi TV 4X is also jam-packed with features - including 4K HDR and Dolby audio - without costing a bomb. Xiaomi has launched the new Mi TV 4X in India at a price of Rs 54,999. The 65-inch Mi TV 4X will be available for buying in India from Flipkart, Mi.com/in and Mi Home stores from September 29.

Xiaomi Mi TV 4X specs and features

The 65-inch Mi TV 4X has a 10-bit (also called deep color) panel which in tandem with HDR can help create depth and a sense of reality while watching content (that supports HDR). While the image quality enhancements that a 10-bit panel brings over an 8-bit panel are worthwhile, it is important to note that, the image quality enhancements that a 10-bit panel brings over an 8-bit panel are also dependent on the content. Neither broadcast TV nor Blu-ray support deep color, so even though your TV may have a 10-bit panel, chances are you may never see 10-bit content on it. Regardless, the 65-inch Mi TV 4X will be able to produce over a billion colors (as opposed to 16.8 million on a TV with an 8-bit panel), which is good for both, watching HDR content from streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, and bragging rights.

Speaking of which, the 65-inch Mi TV 4X will support popular streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video out-of-the-box – something that’s missing on Xiaomi’s older Mi TV models.

As for audio, the 65-inch Mi TV 4X comes with a dual 20W stereo speaker set-up with DTS-HD surround sound.

The 65-inch Mi TV 4X also comes with Xiaomi’s dual interface – PatchWall and stock Android TV – and allows users to switch between the two at will. PatchWall is based on "deep learning AI that references metadata to make intelligent content recommendations tailored to you," according to Xiaomi which means that it can learn from users’ viewing habits and show and suggest content accordingly. Stock Android TV user interface meanwhile adds the Google Play Store to the Mi TV 4X letting users install apps directly. A new thing about the 65-inch Mi TV 4X is that it supports Android Pie’s data saver feature allowing for “up to three times more content streaming, data counter for individual apps, and the ability to cast locally and wirelessly to the TV without the need for an internet connection.”

Xiaomi has also launched 50-inch and 43-inch models of the Mi TV 4X that boast of the same 4K 10-bit HDR displays, Vivid Picture Engine (VPE) calibration, and 20W stereo speakers with support for DTS-HD. Xiaomi says, “the Mi TV 4X series has been announced with an aim to bring 4K for everyone.”
