OnePlus has introduced OxygenOS 15, its latest mobile operating system based on Android 15, which started rolling out to Pixel phones earlier this month. The new OxygenOS 15 brings a host of improvements, including a new user interface and enhanced multitasking capabilities. However, the most important change is the addition of new artificial intelligence tools that the company claims will help users achieve more with the OnePlus smartphones. OxygenOS 15 will be available in open beta on October 31 – the same day as the OnePlus 13 launch. However, the new AI features will arrive sometimes towards November-end.
New look
OxygenOS 15 looks more identical to HyperOS now with a customisable lock screen where photos pop in different ways depending on how a user interacts with it. It comes with more widgets and fonts through a tool called OnePlus OneTake, offering users more ways to customise the home screen.
Better multitasking
OnePlus has announced OnePlus Canvas, which lets users access multiple apps in a split-window interface or a floating window style, providing users with an enhanced way to multitask. OnePlus also claims Parallel Processing – a new performance booster that offers smoother and more seamless animations during transitions between apps. The company has also reduced the system files size by 20 per cent by removing redundant features, making more internal storage available. However, this will work only on the upcoming OnePlus 13.
New AI features
OxygenOS 15 also brings additional AI tools that will maximise the smartphone experience, according to the company. Users will see new image editing features, such as AI Unblur, AI Detail Boost, and AI Reflection Eraser in the Photos app. The Notes app on OnePlus phones with the latest operating system will add AI-powered tools to help users write, improve, summarise, and enhance text. There is also a new on-device search option that uses AI to find specific files from the app tray in a few moments. Moreover, the Circle to Search feature finally lands on OnePlus phones with OxygenOS 15.

OnePlus claims despite all new experiences and additional features, such as a new built-in file-sharing solution for iPhones, OxygenOS 15 will be light and cover minimal space on the upcoming OnePlus 13. Older models, such as OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11 series will also be eligible for new features. However, models older than those may not support several features, especially the ones powered by AI, due to old hardware.
