Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the imminent release of the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer, scheduled for Tuesday, December 5, at 7:30 pm in India and 9 am ET in the US. The announcement, made via a tweet, showcases a scenic image featuring a sunset backdrop with palm tree silhouettes, reinforcing speculation about the game being set in a fictionalised version of Miami, reminiscent of the iconic Vice City.

Contrary to expectations, the trailer unveiling won't be part of The Game Awards 2023, ruling out Geoff Keighley's involvement. However, the possibility of teaser drops or screenshots remains open.

Details surrounding GTA 6 have been scarce since a significant data leak in mid-2022, which allegedly revealed gameplay featuring a crime duo named Jason and Lucia conducting a daylight diner heist. Notably, this installment marks a departure for the franchise, introducing its first female protagonist, a step away from prior portrayals often criticised for stereotypical gender roles.

The game is currently referenced as the 'next Grand Theft Auto,' leaving the official title undisclosed. There's speculation that it might even be a spin-off with a unique subtitle. Anticipation has been building for GTA 6, which is expected to launch potentially within the fiscal year 2025, as hinted during a May earnings call by Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

Recent changes on the Rockstar Games platform, previously known as the 'Social Club,' hint at significant shifts in the game's presentation. Updates on the studio's Instagram account also suggest a concentrated focus on the impending GTA 6 release.

While GTA Online has served as a profitable multiplayer platform for Rockstar, boasting extensive content over the years, the future integration of existing Social Club accounts with GTA 6 remains uncertain.

Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013, continues to be a colossal success, amassing 190 million copies sold globally. Rockstar has also confirmed the availability of the remastered GTA trilogy on Netflix as of December 14, exclusively accessible through the Netflix phone app across Android and iOS.

GTA 6's anticipated release is expected to debut on current-gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series S/X before making its way to PC, following the pattern of previous Rockstar game launches.
