The name 'Ghibli-style' images comes from Studio Ghibli, a renowned Japanese animation studio based in Koganei in Tokyo, co-founded by Hayao Miyazaki, and has created classic animated films like 'My Neighbor Totoro' and 'Princess Mononoke'. 

These Ghibli-style images, are AI-generated artworks of real-life photographs, that give them an anime-like look. Social media is buzzing with these Ghibli-style images, reimagining the most popular memes and recreating iconic film posters, celebrity photos and more.

How to Create Ghibli-Style Images for Free?

The Ghibli-style images have grabbed all the attention after a recent ChatPGT update by OpenAI. While introducing this feature earlier this week, OpenAI said in a statement, “GPT‑4o image generation excels at accurately rendering text, precisely following prompts, and leveraging 4o’s inherent knowledge base and chat context—including transforming uploaded images or using them as visual inspiration."

Step-by-Step Guide to Create Ghibli-Style Images

1. The first step is to open ChatGPT and update the software to its latest version; this feature is only available to ChatGPT Plus users.
2. If you are not a ChatGPT Plus user, you can also create your Ghibli-style images using the new image generation features, available to even the free users of ChatGPT-4o. 
3. Once you open the page, click on the three dots, on the prompt bar and then choose the ‘Image’ option, which will be visible along with the ‘Canvas’ option.
4. Drop in a text prompt, describing the kind of image you're looking for, including your clothes, background and mood; then press ‘enter’.
5. You can simply drop in a photograph, of which you want a Ghibli-style image.
6. Once the prompt or the real photograph is submitted, the Ghibli-style image will be created and shared with you; download it and share it on your social media accounts.
7. There are several other AI image generators that can be used for the creation of Ghibli-style images, including Midjourney and insMind.
