Apple has announced its annual developers conference, WWDC, will kick off on June 9. This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, however, will be a virtual event, with a special day planned for select developers at Apple Park on the first day. WWDC 2025 will run through June 13, but the announcements, including the launch of iOS 19 and upcoming software versions for other Apple devices, are expected on June 9.

“We’re excited to mark another incredible year of WWDC with our global developer community,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.

The online-only format for WWDC this year is a throwback to the post-pandemic era when Apple, much like other companies, shifted all its events from in-person to virtual. In 2023, Apple reintroduced physical events for major announcements, including last year’s iPhone 16 series launch.

What to expect at the WWDC 2025?

Like every year, the WWDC in 2025 will turn the spotlight on the next round of Apple’s operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. However, Apple could use the event to allay concerns about Apple Intelligence rollout delays and explain what it has been doing to ramp up efforts so that a smarter Siri can arrive sooner. A report earlier this month cited industry sources to say Apple has indefinitely delayed the release of an AI-infused Siri and rejigged its team to fast-track the development.

iOS 19 is said to be Apple’s biggest iPhone software upgrade in years, bringing a fresh system design that could be loosely based on visionOS — the software that powers the company’s Vision Pro extended reality headset. Bloomberg previously reported that iOS 19 will bring new app icon styles, menus, windows, and navigation elements, calling it “the biggest revamp since iOS 7,” announced in 2013. Much like iOS, the next iPadOS update will also bring major cosmetic and under-the-hood changes.

Apple is also expected to introduce new features with macOS 16, watchOS 12, tvOS 19, and visionOS 3. While details on what new features are coming are unclear, the report said Apple aims to standardise the design language across platforms with the next updates to make the experience “more consistent.”
