Apple WWDC 2025 Announcements: Apple concluded its WWDC 025 preview last night with major announcements for its operating systems across all devices in the Apple Ecosystem. While there are many subjects to discuss from last night, the major highlight of WWDC 2025 was the new liquid glass design for iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and Apple TV. It provides apps and menus with a sleek, transparent look that adapts to the changing environment. The lock screen, control centre and home screen are also now more fluid and have easy-to-use controls.
If you dozed off and missed the WWDC 2025 live stream or simply just don’t want to go to separate web pages to read about each OS's changes, here is a quick and concise summary of everything important Apple announced last night.
Apple iOS 26 brings a new liquid glass design, which is dynamic and blends in dynamically with the changing environment. It has enhanced UI elements like buttons, sliders, sidebars, and controls made from Liquid Glass that adapt fluidly to keep your content in focus.
Apple’s on-device AI system, aka Apple Intelligence, which was first announced last year at WWDC, gets smarter with new features. Apple Intelligence can now write, summarise, mix emojis, and generate images from descriptions or styles, including via ChatGPT.
The smarter AI in your device can now also translate languages in real time during FaceTime and phone calls. Based on Apple Intelligence, the visual intelligence can identify, search, and even take action on-screen content. You get smart summaries in Mail, Notes and audio transcriptions. iMessaging will be more meaningful now with the addition of priority sorting, summaries, previews, and poll suggestions. Siri is now more natural and gets typing support and ChatGPT integration
“You control when ChatGPT is used and will be asked before any of your information is shared. Anyone can access ChatGPT for free, without creating an account. ChatGPT subscribers can connect accounts to access paid features within these experiences,” Apple notes.
iOS 26 brings new messaging features, including polls, typing indicators for group chats, and fun AI chat backgrounds. The Phone app offers Hold Assist and call screening, which will let you know if someone answers. CarPlay looks easier to use now that the widgets and controls have been altered.
The major iPhone updates include a redesigned Liquid Design interface, deeper Apple Intelligence integration, and improvements across key apps and services. The new UI renders a 3D effect to the overall design.
The Apple Intelligence bestows powers like visual intelligence, emoji customisation, and smarter shortcuts. Your phone can now also help you track your order delivery by automatically extracting delivery information from emails. The communications enhancements include a unified view for Favourites, Recents, Voicemail, Call Screening and Hold Assist. The messages get a new ability to screen unknown senders, poll creation in group chats, and typing indicators in group chats that tell you who is typing in the chat. There is also interesting custom chat background support in iMessages with the new OS.
The Apple Maps gets Visited Places that track places you’ve been. Smarter Routing learns daily patterns and suggests better routes.
Apple now has a separate place for gaming apps. The new OS26 brings Apple Games Hub, which will act as a central hub for all games, track updates and events.
The AirPods get studio-quality audio recording ability and a new camera remote that lets users press and hold the AirPods stem to take photos or start and stop any video recording on iPhone or iPad.
Apple is calling the new OS for Macs macOS Tahoe. Under the new OS update, Mac users will get a new, elegant Dock and sidebar with Liquid Glass design. Ability to do more things with Spotlight search, like send an email or set a timer. Your Mac can now get calls, live tracking, and other things from your iPhone.
iPadOS 26 turns the iPad into more of a laptop now. You can change the size and location of program windows on your iPadOS 26, just like on a Mac. The Files app is much better now that it has a new menu bar and can do more than one thing at once. Apple informs that the new OS system teams up well with the Stage Manager for users who wish to group their windows into distinct stages.
Apple Watch keeps track of more of your health. The update for the Apple Watch adds an AI Workout Buddy that provides you with advice on your workout as you go. The Smart Stack lets you answer calls and take notes right from your wrist. It tells you what to do when you need to do it. Messages also have polls and translations.
With the new tvOS 26, you can use your iPhone as a karaoke microphone for Apple Music Sing. FaceTime on Apple TV supports more languages and provides contact posters when someone calls.
While the developer beta version is already available for developers, the stable build of Apple’s new operating system is expected to come by September this year.
