The entire process of obtaining student bus passes in Bangalore for travel in the intra-city Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses is now online and students can even fix up e-appointments to collect their smart cards (bus passes). The entire procedure, from application to actually getting the smart cards, is digitalized.

The online facility to register for the student bus passes would be active very soon – first for school students, followed by that for college-going students from July-August this year. If you are desirous of checking out the online portal, click here.

Once active, you would be required to upload all relevant details which would then be sent to the educational institution concerned (provided the institutes register themselves online via a nominated nodal officer). Once students’ details are approved, intimations would be sent via text messaging, states BMTC in an official tweet.

Post the above steps, students could schedule a convenient time and nearest bus depots to obtain the smart cards from. As per BMTC, this online facility would be in place beginning form this financial year that is 2019-2020.

With the payment interface also seemingly online, students should be potentially saved from the hassles of having to stand in long/unending queues for the whole day. Do check the BMTC official portal out.
