Game of Thrones series author George R.R. Martin is now onto creating a video game

Last week, the final season finale of Game of Thrones was aired on HBO. And now that the series is over (although it's still far from over as the real story behind the story is yet to begin), the series author George R.R. Martin is apparently helping create a Japanese video game. And while fans are still waiting for the last two books in the series from Martin, well, he is busy working on various other things. Such as a video game! In a new blog post, Martin said that he has been consulting on a new Japanese video game.

"I’ve consulted on a video game out of Japan," George R.R Martin said.

We have no other details as to what the game will be all about or what will be its launch timeline, according to reports, the game will reportedly be unveiled at the annual video game trade E3 next month. According to Eurogamer, this video game may be the reason why the final two Game of Thrones books may be taking so long. The video game in question is rumoured to be a FromSoftware title.

A few weeks ago, a rumour started streaming that Martin is working on "some sort of Souls-like game" by FromSoftware. The game is said to be an open-world style with different kingdoms and abilities that can be collected from each area. In a recent blog post, Martin didn't share more details or elaborate further on the title. But the report has it that the game is internally being called "GR" and has been in development for the past three years.

"As a producer, I’ve got five shows in development at HBO (some having nothing whatsoever to do with the world of Westeros), two at Hulu, one on the History Channel.   I’m involved with a number of feature projects, some based upon my own stories and books, some on material created by others.   There are these short films I am hoping to make, adaptations of classic stories by one of the most brilliant, quirky, and original writers our genre has ever produced", Martin writes.

Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin are the creators of this new Game of Thrones prequel series. Goldman will be serving as the showrunner. Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin will also be executive producers, alongside SJ Clarkson. Martin was also an executive producer on Game of Thrones and he contributed to several episode scripts.
