Group Video Calling feature in Duo has finally gone live after being highly expected from a relatively long period of time. If you are a Duo user do check if you can observe a new Create Group option below search.
Now, it seems like the very first country having where users can initiate is Indonesia. Along with this region, there are also other “select” regions where the new Group Calling functionality within Google Duo has gone live.
Hence, you could check out if you are able to make and participate in Google Duo group calls; with up to 4 people. When we checked out Google Duo, at the time of composing this article, the functionality was yet to roll out. But, the possibility of a phased rollout cannot be ruled out.
Even, Google’s Justin Uberti, has confirmed via a tweet that the rollout of group video calling via Duo is currently live in select regions and we know for sure Indonesia is one of these, is due to Google Indonesia confirming the development through another tweet:
As of now, it is not known if there are other new elements introduced into Google Duo as a result of the group calling feature having gone live (in a few regions that is). If you find that the new functionality is available, do give us a buzz. However, it could take some time for the functionality to seed to everyone in every country of the world and it could very well be a phased rollout.
Once the functionality goes live, it should do a world of good, especially for the business users to directly speak face to face with clients/associates across the planet. For the other category of users – the most important home users (general user category), it should bridge gaps more effectively. Don’t you think so?
