WhatsApp, being the most-loved instant messaging app in India and many other parts around the world, is currently working on features that can help users get a great messaging experience. So far, WhatsApp has rolled out quite a few new features on the app, and as some of you might know, these features are not publicly made available to the masses at first. Some features are rolled out in a phased manner and some are rolled out to beta testers to test it out.

WhatsApp lets users join its beta testing program through Play Store for Android users. New, upcoming features are often available for these select beta users before the public release. This way, WhatsApp receive feedback on how it performs and if there is a room for improvement. The newest feature currently being tested by beta users is WhatsApp’s Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode.

As the name suggests, it lets WhatsApp users watch YouTube videos directly within WhatsApp without leaving the chat interface. As we mentioned, this feature is currently limited to WhatsApp Messenger for Android Beta users. We take a look at how to get WhatsApp’s Picture-in-Picture mode right so that you can watch YouTube videos directly within the chat interface without leaving WhatsApp.

How to enable WhatsApp Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode

Step 1: Go to Google Play Store and search for WhatsApp Messenger. Once you locate WhatsApp app listing, scroll down.

Step 2: You will find an option whether you want to join WhatsApp beta testing program. Opt for the option if available.

Step 3: If you are already a WhatsApp beta tester, make sure to have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your phone.

Step 4: To see if the feature is enabled for you, go to YouTube and share some video with any of your WhatsApp contacts.

Step 5: If everything goes well as expected, you shall see a play button on the video thumbnail right within the chat interface.

Step 6: Hit the play button and you can now play any YouTube video right inside WhatsApp.

Interestingly enough, this trick also works for Facebook videos. As a result, you can now start watching YouTube and Facebook videos directly inside WhatsApp. It is worth noting that Telegram has a similar feature in place. As a result, Telegram users can also avail this feature.
