Instagram is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow its creators to sell exclusive stories, live videos and more to the users. The Meta-owned (Formerly called Facebook) app also listed the feature called Instagram Subscriptions under the In-App Purchases section in the US and India. The feature is expected to be similar to Twitter's Super Follows feature where users can generate monthly revenue by sharing subscriber-only content.

Instagram Subscriptions starting at Rs. 89

According to a report from TechCrunch, Instagram was earlier planning to launch a feature to allow creators to share subscriber-only content that would help them generate revenue. Instagram's Apple App Store listing in the US and India has a new 'Instagram Subscriptions' category hinting at the launch of the paid feature soon. The prices for the same range from $0.99 which roughly translates to Rs. 73 to $4.99 translating to Rs. 360.

According to the analytic firm Sensor Tower, via TechCrunch, the first 'Instagram Subscriptions' in-app purchase was added on November 1 at $4.99 (Roughly Rs. 369). The feature is live at the price plan of Rs. 89 per month in App Store India. The new paid feature option is visible along with Instagram Badges used to buy gifts by the user for the creators during Live sessions.

Additionally, followers might also get access to a subscriber button next to their favourite creator's profile. This will provide them access to the creator's exclusive stories and live videos, as per Reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi who has been following the photo-sharing app's development in the new feature launch. Moreover, a special member badge will reportedly appear next to the DM (Direct message) which will supposedly prioritise the message of the subscriber for the creator.

Creators will also get an option of customizing their subscription price and name along with an option of keeping a tab on their approximate earnings, active members, and expired membership. Subscribers will reportedly be free to cancel their subscription anytime they want.
