Streaming platform Netflix is testing cheaper weekly plans starting at Rs 65, according to reports. These new plans are reportedly available for select users. Earlier, Netflix confirmed to Republic World that the company is planning to conduct tests in terms of different plans and options across select countries where users can stream Netflix on their mobile device for a lower price and shorter validity. So, we can assume that this latest development might be a part of Netflix’s much bigger strategy to expand its reach further into the Indian market.
Those who do not wish to buy a monthly plan can rather go for a weekly plan instead. There are four different weekly plans to choose from: Rs 65, Rs 125, Rs 165 and Rs 200 and all of these plans have different benefits to offer.
Rs 65 mobile-only is essentially Rs 250 monthly plan. The plan is valid only for mobile users. Meaning, it offers access to a single mobile or tablet screen. Of course, Rs 65 weekly (Rs 250 monthly) plan will not make Netflix accessible to any other device including PC, laptop, Smart TV, etc. What’s more, it doesn’t even offer access to HD or 4K content.
Apart from that, Netflix has three monthly existing plans to offer in India: Rs 500, Rs 650 and Rs 800. Interestingly, these three plans can also be used weekly for a lower price, as stated above.
Netflix Rs 125 weekly plan is essentially a basic plan that costs Rs 500 per month. Benefits include SD (standard definition) content for you to stream simultaneously on one device.
In a nutshell, Netflix Rs 165 is the standard plan allows users to stream HD (High definition) Netflix on two devices simultaneously for a week. Well, this is not a mobile-only plan. So this plan remains accessible on all kinds of Netflix-compatible devices. This is essentially Rs 650 ‘Standard’ monthly Netflix plan.
Similarly, Netflix Rs 200 is a weekly ‘Premium’ plan (Rs 800 monthly). Benefits of this plan include streaming 4K content on up to four devices simultaneously. Netflix-original Sacred Games season 2 is making the headlines for quite some time now and its release is imminent. So we are expecting these new weekly plans to become available for more users pretty soon.
