The Game Awards 2018: PUBG Mobile Loses big, Florence Surprises, Fortnite Gains

PUBG Mobile which was highly expected by a relatively wider section of the gamers to win in the Best Mobile Game of the year category in The Game Awards 2018, has lost out to Florence which is now officially the Best Mobile Game of 2018 at the awards.

PUBG Mobile which was highly expected by a relatively wider section of the gamers to win in the Best Mobile Game of the year category in The Game Awards 2018, has lost out to Florence which is now officially the Best Mobile Game of 2018 at the awards. Florence has been developed jointly by Annapurna Interactive and Mountains.

Here, it is worth noting that there was direct competition  between Fortnite and PUBG Mobile; with none of these managing a win. This in despite of the latter clocking more than 30 million players online at given time intervals, and making it to the top of Google Play with respect to favorite games of Android mobile users. Fortnite won in the Best Multiplayer category.

With Florence bagging the Mobile Game of The Year award, it only becomes imminent to check out other winners across categories. Check these details out below:

Game with the Best Narrative: Read Dead Redemption 2; developed by Rockstar Games

 

Game with the Best Music:Red Dead Redemption 2; with credits going to Woody Jackson

 

Best VR/AR Game: Astro Bot Rescue Mission developed by SIE Japan Studio

 

Best Multiplayer Game:  Fortnite; developed by Epic Games.

 

Best Content of the Year: Ninja

 

Best Strategy Game: Into the Beach; developed by Subset Games

 

Action Game of the Year: Dead Cells; developed by Motion Twin

 

Family Game of the Year: Overcooked 2; developed by Team 17 Digital Limited and Ghost Town Games

 

RPG Game of the Year - Monster Hunter: World; developed by Capcom


With PUBG Mobile having lost in the only category where it was nominated, it only becomes natural for loyalists of the game to ponder over this loss.
