Amazon Claims Xiaomi Mi TV 4C Pro, Fire TV Stick Most Popular Products In 2018

Amazon India has announced that Xiaomi’s 32-inch Mi TV 4C Pro and 10,000mAh Mi Power Bank were among the most popular products on its platform in 2018. Xiaomi’s Redmi Y2 was the top product sold on Amazon’s Prime Day promotional sales event this year, the online retail website said, while releasing its best of Prime 2018 list. The list aims to “celebrate new benefits and what members shopped for, watched, listened to, and read most the last year,” Amazon India said in a statement. 

Clearly, Xiaomi hit bulls eye this year on Amazon India – and elsewhere, if you’ve been closely following the company in question – and its stupendous form wasn’t only limited to smartphones. Its smart LED TVs have undoubtedly taken the Indian market by storm on the back of some hard to get specs and rock-bottom prices. The 32-inch Mi TV 4C Pro, for your reference, costs just Rs 14,999. It was launched in September alongside two more premium 49-inch Mi TV 4A Pro and 55-inch Mi TV 4 Pro models. All these three models belong to Xiaomi’s second wave of Mi TV line-up and boast of noticeable hardware and software upgrades over their preceding models. The first wave was released in early 2018. 

The sales numbers and Xiaomi’s rise to fame in India’s smart TV market – Xiaomi was top smart TV brand in India in Q2 2018, as per data released by research firm IDC – also highlights the growth trajectory of internet connectivity in the country: more and more people are coming online and consuming more data now more than ever: thanks to data becoming more and more affordable.    

“Video entertainment category which includes smart TVs, streaming sticks and set-top boxes grew 81% year over year, and the category continues to dominate with 85% unit share within the portfolio of various smart home products,” in Q2 2018, IDC said in the same report. “Amazon remains the clear leader in the streaming stick category, with almost 8 out of 10 streaming devices sold in the country being Amazon Firestick.” 

Amazon India numbers seem to corroborate the findings. The Amazon Fire TV Stick was also one among the most popular products on the platform this year, according to the Prime 2018 list.
