Amazon’s Echo speakers maybe smart but they often fall short when it comes to audio quality in comparison to counterparts from Bose and JBL. But then not every Bose and JBL speaker is smart like the Echo. That's where the Echo Input comes into the picture. The Echo Input can turn your dumb speaker into an Alexa smart speaker so you can have the best of both worlds.

The Echo Input is now available for buying from Amazon India for Rs 2,999. When you buy the Echo Input with select speakers from Bose, JBL and UE, you can get up to Rs 2,999 off, Amazon has announced. This means, for a limited period, you can get the Echo Input effectively for free if you choose to buy parner speakers from Bose, JBL and UE.

The Echo Input is just 12.5mm thick – less than a deck of cards, says Amzon – and can connect to your existing speaker through a 3.5mm audio cable (which is included in the box) or through Bluetooth. It also features a four-microphone array like the Echo Dot so you can talk to Alexa from across the room. Once connected, all audio is played through the connected speaker rather than through Echo Input itself. The Echo Input also lets you add the connected speaker to a new or existing multi-room music group.

“Our customers tell us that they love the convenience of being able to ask Alexa to play music, get information, control smart home devices, and much more. With Echo Input, we are giving users even more options to choose the best Echo device for their needs. Adding Echo Input to your existing speakers is the easiest way to begin your voice-first experience with Alexa,” Jayshree Gururaj, director, Amazon Devices said while announcing the Echo Input for the Indian market.

Amazon is also updating its entry-level Fire TV Stick line-up in India with a new version that adds the company’s all-new Alexa-enabled voice remote into the mix. The updated Fire TV Stick with second-generation Alexa voice remote will be available for buying for Rs 3,999 from Amazon India starting from the last week of January.
