Rumours that Apple is working on AirPods with active noise cancellation have been doing the rounds for a while now. Since even before the time when Apple launched the AirPods 2. The AirPods 2 turned out to be just another incremental update to the original. That’s not to say that Apple isn’t working on AirPods with active noise cancellation – and hopefully, an updated design.
Earlier this month, a mention of ‘noise cancellation’ was spotted in the code of iOS 13.2 beta raising some hope, and now a new report suggests that Apple maybe gearing to launch the long-rumoured AirPods Pro as soon as by the end of this month. That’s right, the updated AirPods with active noise cancellation would likely be a pro variant of the AirPods 2, and not AirPods 3 – makes sense because Apple just launched the AirPods 2.
The AirPods Pro will reportedly have a revamped design with a more in-ear styling for seamless noise cancellation. Apple may also make them water-resistant to some extent. The charging case is also rumoured to get a facelift. Sadly, that’s all we know about the AirPods Pro for now, but considering the rumour mills around its possible launch window, we won’t have to wait long to see them.
The original AirPods made their debut in 2016 alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, both of which came without a headphone jack. In March, Apple finally launched the second-generation AirPods with a new custom H1 chip for seemingly faster connectivity, improved battery life and hands-free Hey Siri support. The new H1 chip inside the AirPods 2 is claimed to deliver “up to 50 per cent more talk time compared to first generation AirPods” in addition to offering “two times faster connect times.”
The AirPods 2 start at Rs 14,900 in India for AirPods with standard charging case, going all the way to Rs 18,900 for AirPods with wireless charging case – the optional wireless charging case is also sold separately for Rs 7,500.
