Apple is updating its entry-level sixth-generation iPad with an all-new seventh-generation version that comes with a larger screen and smart connector support. The seventh-generation iPad will be available for buying in the US starting September 30 at a starting price of $329 ($299 for education). This is now the most affordable iPad model that you can get. While the term ‘affordable’ is subjective in Apple-verse, the new iPad (like the recently launched iPad Mini and iPad Air) focuses largely on bringing the tried and trusted hallmarks of an iPad to an entry-level segment – so more people will possibly be able to access it.

Coming to the specs, the seventh-generation iPad comes with a 10.2-inch Retina display and it is powered by Apple’s A10 Fusion processor. There’s also support for smart keyboards now.

“The new iPad packs even more value into our most popular and affordable iPad model featuring a bigger 10.2-inch Retina display, support for Apple Pencil and for the first time, the full-size Smart Keyboard. The new iPad was built to run iPadOS, which introduces powerful new ways to multitask, manage and mark up documents, use Apple Pencil and view more information at a glance on a redesigned Home screen. This new iPad with iPadOS takes everything people love about our most popular iPad and makes it even better for creating, learning, working and playing,” Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Product Marketing said in a press statement announcing the new iPad.
