PUBG is now at IIT Roorkee which is potentially a big boost to the Indian gaming and online gaming enthusiast community. With eSports and online sports being the focal point, PUBG made its presence felt at the sports festival at IIT Roorkee amidst other rival games. These games include the likes of Counter Strike; as far as PUBG is concerned, there was a new trend noticed with girl games increasingly taking into the action-adventure title. Female gamers even reportedly participated in huge numbers at this IIT Rourkee sports fest.

PUBG popular among female gamers

“My brother introduced me to the game of PUBG. Now, I am myself a PUBG enthusiast. I was so thrilled when I got to know that this game is a part of the sports fest”, stated a female participant, to Press Trust Of India (PTI).  “Based on the usual notion it is thought that PUBG is dominated by male players only. I wish to change this belief by giving a tough competition to other players. I am excited and I am going to play to the best of my abilities,” added this participant. Even professors seemingly believe that games like PUBG would enable gamers to develop vital skills such as teamwork, strategy, and decision-making abilities.  “PUBG asserts on the cultivation of multitasking and teamwork skills. It also helps in enhancing the ability of focus and shrewd judgement,” said, MK Baruah who is Director of Management Studies at IIT Roorkee, to PTI.

PUBG continues its popularity

At this juncture, it is worth remembering that the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was not too long ago a subject of controversies with people even rooting for a potential ban on the battle-royale game that continues to remain popular in India even inspiring multiple gamers to take up participation at global gaming events. The most popular teams to come out of India – Team SOUL and TeamIND both captured eyeballs and won hearts during their sojourn at the recent PUBG Mobile Club Open 2019 (PMCO 2019) and currently at the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge (PMSC 2019). If you are an avid gamer, do you think that PUBG should be banned in India. How do you view the popular game, as a professional player.
