Samsung is seemingly taking the fight to Xiaomi – after launching a slew of affordable Galaxy M and Galaxy A phones to counter its Redmi phones, Samsung has launched a range of online-exclusive 4K smart TVs to take on Xiaomi’s Mi TV. Samsung’s new affordable 4K smart TV lineup is called Super 6, and it encompasses three models in 43-inch, 50-inch and 55-inch sizes. Price starts at Rs 41,990 for the 43-inch model, going all the way to Rs 61,990 for the 55-inch model.

All the models in Samsung’s Super 6 lineup are now available for buying from Samsung e-shop and Flipkart. The 50-inch Samsung 4K smart TV model will be also sold via Amazon India in the days to come.

The name Super 6 comes from the TVs’ 6 features that Samsung seems to be touting - Live Cast, Tune Station, Screen Mirroring, Lag Free Gaming, Real 4K resolution and 60+ titles.

“The new range of UHD TV line-up meets the growing expectations of our consumers by providing a 4K UHD TV with host of smart features such as Live Cast, Tune Station, Smart Convergence and Lag Free Gaming. These beautifully designed TVs are also equipped to meet the changing content consumption needs, in sync with their lifestyle demands,” Raju Pullan, who is senior vice president, Consumer Electronics Online Business, Samsung India said.

Samsung’s Super 6 UHD series seems to have been designed from ground up to take on Xiaomi’s Mi TVs. All the new TVs are powered by quad-core processors and pack 20W speakers – all of them run Samsung’s in-house Tizen OS software. “The latest UHD variants are also bundled with Smart Hub and Smart Convergence for consumers to seamlessly pair their smartphone with TV.”

While not as feature-rich as Xiaomi’s Mi TVs, Samsung will of course bank on brand awareness to make a selling – this is the first time that it has shown signs of going aggressive and online-only in the smart TV category. Xiaomi has a host of Mi TVs in India but only one – the 55-inch model boasts of 4K resolution. But it costs just Rs 39,999 so that’s that.
