BSNL has now seemingly come out with a Rs 108 plan. This is valid for 28 days. The plan also reportedly comes with free voice calling benefits and more. Here, it is worth remembering that a revival package for the telco has been announced by the central government.

The Rs 108 plan

Now, as per a TelecomTalk report, the Rs 108 plan is valid only across the Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles of BSNL. It is said to offer unlimited voice calling (limited to 250 minutes per day) to all networks encompassing even that of MTNL. Then, the data benefit is 1GB per day. Free text messages offered on a daily basis would be 500.

At this juncture, BSNL’s Rs 108 plan is refreshing and does offer more benefits than standard minimum recharge plans. This should not burn holes in pockets as well. However, its lack of availability for more circles, outside of the Tamil Nadu and Chennai circles, could be a potential cause of concern.

Unlimited benefits are surely welcome in lower-priced tariff plans such as the Rs 108 which is reportedly active for users now only in select telecom circles. These plans seemingly offer lots to cheer about, also because now Interconnect Usage Charge (IUC) is on the cards and is being hugely debated across the telecom circles in India. Rival telecom operator Reliance Jio already has been levying OUC but is now giving out all-in-one packs (AIOs) that include free IUC minutes clubbed along with that of unlimited calling benefits.

Finally, as far as other BSNL news is concerned, calls to MTNL numbers have also now been made free. Earlier, free/unlimited calling benefits were not applicable in MTNL regions. This also comes amidst revival talks and merger of MTNL with BSNL that is set to occur in the near future.
