BSNL’s Rs 118 plan now live, offers near-unlimited calls, free data

BSNL has now officially launched the Rs 118 prepaid plan that offers free voice calls limited to 250 minutes per day, unlimited data, along with 100 free SMS messages in a day. The validity of this plan is 28 days. USP of this scheme is its near-unlimited calling feature.

Now, teasing this plan via micro-blogging site Twitter, BSNL has stated that the near-unlimited calls in the Rs 118 plan would also work in the Mumbai and Delhi telecom circles. These were earlier MTNL strongholds. Now, MTNL would be merged with BSNL, as part of a revival package for the latter.  

As far as benefits are concerned, the data benefits include 0.5GB free (totally) per day post which speed would be reduced to 40Kbps, but still free. Then, there is as many as 100 text message as per day which could be sent for free in India. The Rs 118 plan is now live, and valid for 28 days. Check out BSNL’s official teaser of this plan.  

Now, the Rs 118 plan also joins the list of BSNL’s Rs 1699 prepaid plan that is an annual offering.  This scheme is now valid fo ran an additional 90 days, taking its total validity to 455 days. This also offers 250 free minutes of voice calling per day. Then, there are 100 free text messages per day along with 2GB of data per day. The telco is also taking the onus of personally informing its subscribers about the enhancements under the Rs 1699 prepaid recharge tariff. Finally, BSNL's 4G would come to the fore, in a full-fledged manner, soon. The telco has managed to obtain the requisite 4G spectrum.
