Google is expected to showcase the 5G variant of its upcoming Pixel 4 smartphone on October 15, according to a new report by Nikkei Asian Review. Google's hardware event has been scheduled for October 15 in New York City. During this event, Google will unveil its upcoming Pixel 4 lineup.

Almost every major smartphone brand out there is working on 5G smartphone. Earlier, Samsung announced the 5G variant of its Galaxy S10. Apple, on the other hand, is expected to release 5G iPhone next year. Hence, it hardly comes as a surprise that Google would launch a 5G variant of its Pixel 3 smartphone.

Meanwhile, the standard version of Pixel 4 will only support the LTE band. According to the report, Google has already started 'test production' on one of the models tha that supports 5G. While there is no clarity on when the 5G variant of Google Pixel will release, the report has it, it could be shown during Google's upcoming hardware event in New York on October 15.

In the event that Google previews its 5G Pixel phone next week, it will most likely be a small teaser and the actual release could follow probably weeks later. Google appears to be still finishing its work on the 5G Pixel. So, we can safely assume, Google might take sometime before finally unveiling whatever it has in store to compete with the 5G iPhone line-up for 2020.

Google October 15 event

In addition to Pixel 4 lineup, Google could also be slated for the new version of Pixelbook launch. While there's no official confirmation on anything just yet, a new Android smartwatch could also be around the corner. Both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL phones are said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage.

Google is highly anticipated to launch Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL launch next week. According to leaks, both models are expected to have a lot of things in common, with regards to the camera as well as processing hardware.
