Here’s your first official look at Xiaomi’s Redmi K20 flagship phone coming soon to India

In typical Xiaomi fashion, sub-brand Redmi isn’t waiting until D-day to reveal finer details of its first true-blue flagship phone. We already know that the phone will be called the Redmi K20, and we already know that it will pack ‘killer’ specs including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and 48MP main camera with Sony IMX586 sensor – and now we know what the Redmi K20 will look like, at least from the back. 

Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain has shared the first official ‘real’ picture of the Redmi K20 – showing off the phone’s back panel in all its glory. If you thought the Redmi Note 7 Pro was beautiful, wait till you see the Redmi K20 – it’s a whole new level, at least as far as the product shot is concerned. 

It’s safe to say that the Redmi K20 will have a glass back with a light-bending gradient paintjob – the one in the photograph is red but, there should be more options at launch. The red on the Redmi K20 seems different from the red on the Redmi Note 7 Pro. With distinct ripple-like effect, the Redmi K20 also looks different from any other phone with a gradient finish which is commendable – especially when you consider Redmi’s origins.  

At the back there are three cameras – in line with rumor mills. These are arranged in a vertical fashion – divided into two separate quarters. The main sensor has already been confirmed to be a 48MP Sony IMX586 that will also be capable of shooting 960fps slow-motion videos. As for the other two, rumor has it that the Redmi K20 will come with a 13MP secondary sensor (possibly wide-angle) and another 8MP sensor (possibly telephoto).  

Unsurprisingly, there’s no conventional fingerprint scanner on the back. Redmi has confirmed that the Redmi K20 will come with a seventh-generation optical in-display fingerprint scanner that’s said to be faster, more accurate as well as covering a larger area over the last-generation tech.  

A pop-up selfie camera will further entail in a near all-screen viewing experience, according to reports.  

Redmi is gearing to launch the Redmi K20 (and quite possibly the Redmi K20 Pro as well) in China on May 28 – the Redmi K20 is scheduled to arrive in India soon after.
