There seems to be no stopping Huawei offshoot brand Honor from doing its own thing, even though you can say these are hard times for the company in question – what with future of its devices at stake after a recent US government directive that bars all companies like Google from doing business with it without proper authorization. Honor just launched two new mid-range phones, the Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X, in China – both of which are as exciting as any other Honor phone basis of specs and design scheme.

Both the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro have a lot in common. Both the phones literally have the same design with a flashy gradient with distinct X-shaped pattern on the rear and curved glass on the front. The Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X are first Honor phones to ship with a pop-up selfie camera – which is 16MP by the way – that entails in a near all-screen and no-bezel experience. Both the phones have side-mounted fingerprint scanners for biometric authentication.

The Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X come with a 6.59-inch 1080p+ display and a Kirin 810 processor under the hood. While the Honor 9X Pro will come with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage, the Honor 9X will tone down a bit with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. Both the phones support expandable storage and run Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.1 software. Both the phones further pack massive 5,000mAh batteries.

The key difference comes in the form of cameras. While the Honor 9X Pro has a triple rear camera setup, the Honor 9X has two rear cameras. The primary camera in both the cases uses a 48MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture. Both the phones also come with a 2MP depth sensor. The Honor 9X Pro, in addition, comes with an 8MP ultra-wide camera.

The Honor 9X Pro starts at CNY 2199 (roughly Rs 22,000) for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage going all the way to CNY 2399 (roughly Rs 24,000) for the top-end variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The Honor 9X meanwhile starts at CNY 1399 (roughly Rs 14,000) for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage going all the way to CNY 1899 (roughly Rs 19,000) for the top-end variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Considering that the Honor 8X made its way to India last year, we have reason to believe Honor will bring the Honor 9X Pro and Honor 9X here in the days to come.
