Huawei subsidiary Honor will launch its next high-end flagship phone, aka Honor V30, in China on November 26. Honor has taken to China’s social media website Weibo to confirm the launch date of the Honor V30 – in addition to sharing a promotional image confirming some key design aspects of the phone in question. As is usually the norm with all its V-series phones, Honor is likely to launch the Honor V30 as the Honor View 30 in global markets early next year.

Honor V30 with dual punch hole selfie cam, 5G incoming

While the Honor V20 came with a single punch hole selfie camera (the Honor V20 was in fact the first smartphone in the world to pack such a display cutout), the Honor V30 will come with two punch hole selfie cameras – sort of like the Samsung Galaxy S10+. The positioning will be different though. While in the Galaxy S10+, the dual punch-hole cutout is on the right, in the Honor V30, it will be on the left. There have been rumours that the Honor V30 will have a ‘pro’ variant that will apparently have this setup – while the vanilla Honor V30 is said to come with a single punch-hole display. We will have to wait and watch out on that one.

The real star of the show will be Huawei’s Kirin 990 though which is also seen inside Huawei’s new Mate 30-series phones. This would entail in the Honor V30 getting 5G support. The Kirin 990 uses a 7nm FinFET Plus EUV node by TSMC. It has an 8 core CPU – with 2x big Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.86GHz, 2x middle Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.36GHz and 4x small Cortex-A55 clocked at 1.95GHz. The Kirin 990 further has a Mali-G76 GPU. It is Huawei’s Kirin 990 that packs an integrated 5G modem and that’s what will bring the next-generation connectivity standard to the Honor V30.

More details about the Honor V30 are awaited. But more importantly, how Honor will tackle the Android ban to launch the phone in global markets, would be particularly interesting. But because parent company Huawei has already launched the Mate 30 phones in global markets minus the Google Play Store and Google services, Honor may launch its new phone internationally too.
