Huawei Mate X Is Now 5G Certified By TUV Rheinland, in The European Union

Huawei Mate X has now received the world’s first 5G CE certificate conferred by TUV Rheinland, a global leader in independent inspection services, which indicates the completion of evaluations and obtaining approvals by the European Union with respect to 5G, by the smartphone.

Bruce Lee, Vice President of Handset Business of Huawei Consumer Business Group stated at the award ceremony, “Compared with the previous generation of communication technology and products, 5G technology and product forms are more complex. 5G certification testing standards and equipment still rely on continuous improvement. It is an unprecedented challenge to evaluate 5G smartphones. Through the collaboration of Huawei and TÜV Rheinland teams, the two sides have made significant breakthroughs in many key certification technologies. In the future, Huawei will continue to work with TÜV Rheinland to work together on the research of communication product certification technology and promote the scale of 5G terminals for commercial use.”

Being an early adapter of commercial 5G, whilst also being Huawei's first 5G smartphone, the Mate X comes with the Balong 5000 chipset, which is the world’s first multi-mode 5G SoC with 7nm process, being able to support 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G within a single chip.

The smartphone acquiring this 5G certification has created a seemingly strong foundation for the large-scale commercial use of 5G mobile phones in the future. Huawei stated that it would continue to actively promote the mature development of 5G industry and provide consumers with real 5G experience and services.

The Certification agency: TUV Rheinland is responsible for the whole process of CE certification of Huawei 5G smartphones. CE certification is a necessary quality requirement of European Union on importing and selling products. It is also a mandatory identification to enter the European market. Commodities with CE certification indicate that they meet a series of directives such as wireless, safety, electromagnetic compatibility, health, environmental protection and consumer protection.
