LG only recently had announced that its current-generation flagship phone, the LG G7 ThinQ, will get the Android 9 Pie update in Q1 2019. That is, possibly by the end of March 2019. But it seems like what LG really wanted to say was that the LG G7 ThinQ will be getting the Android Pie update in early Q1 2019, because that’s precisely what is happening in South Korea. The LG G7 ThinQ is now receiving the Android Pie update in LG’s home turf and should arrive in global markets soon enough.

The LG G7 ThinQ was launched in 2018. The LG G7 ThinQ was later launched as the LG G7+ ThinQ in markets like India. The LG G7+ ThinQ is simply the LG G7 ThinQ with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The LG G7 ThinQ comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The rest of the specifications remain the same. LG should roll out the Android Pie update to both the global LG G7 ThinQ and the LG G7+ ThinQ at around the same time although the company is yet to make any sort of announcement around the same.

LG phones rock the company’s custom skin on top of Android. The Android Pie update brings a host of features to LG’s phone, in addition to custom features like support for dual apps and the LG V40’s Magic Photo camera mode.

While it’s nice to see LG bringing Android Pie early to the LG G7 ThinQ, it would be nicer if the company has an update for global markets soon enough.

In other news, LG is gearing to launch the LG V40 ThinQ in India on January 20. The LG V40 ThinQ was first announced in October last year and is follow-up to the V30 from 2017. LG’s V-series are known for their impressive audio credentials, but with the LG V40 ThinQ, LG is also seemingly going over-board with cameras. But then again, the LG V40 ThinQ ships with Android 8.1 Oreo and LG is yet to confirm when it would be getting the Android pie update.
