A new smartphone from Xolo is seemingly set for release, USP of this handset is claimed Rs 4444 price tag along with the fact that it runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system out of the box. Here, it is worth noting that Xolo had not been in the news of late, and with Chinese smartphone brands dominating the Indian scene, the “local” brands have come in under intense competition.

As far as the new Xolo smartphone is concerned, it is called the Xolo Era 4X and its price tag on paper at least is worthy for the Android Oreo platform that the handset runs on. The key technical specifications indicate that the handset is targeting mostly the first time smartphone buyers; preferring to shell out limited money rather than invest hugely in big brands. This handset also falls in the “feature smartphones” category where the emphasis is on the functionality offered rather for almost shoestring prices; rather than brand value.

Technicality-wise, the Xolo Era 4X offers the below key features:

  • 5.45-inch screen protected by Gorilla Glass covering; offering face unlock
  • Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system
  • 8 MP rear camera
  • 5 MP front snapper
  • Dual SIM-card support
  • Dual VoLTE support
  • 3000 mAh battery.

Details on the processor under-the-hood are yet to surface. The Xolo Era 4X would be an Amazon exclusive upon release, and the smartphone would go up on sale on the e-tailer from January 9.

At this juncture, gauging the technical specifications, it is imminent that the handset may actually compete with the low-end series of smartphones which have also been increasingly seeing the light of day from multiple Chinese brands. Upon release, the price of the Era 4X may be its highlighting factor from a buyers’ perspective.
